Local Lifestyle
Melbourne is a casual, laid-back community, but don't let the easygoing pace fool you. Everyone here thrives on the ocean air and temperate climate, and the setting inspires locals to get outside and play. After a long day sportfishing, boating, jet-skiing, or paddleboarding, residents love to either entertain friends in their Melbourne homes or hit one of the local establishments for food, drinks, and live music.
Dining, Entertainment, & Shopping
You don't have to go far to sate your appetites, enjoy a show, or upgrade your style in Melbourne. Shop on
Melbourne's Main Street for bespoke clothing, gifts, and housewares, or take a stroll through
Melbourne Square Mall to get your fashion fix.
Hungry?
Chart House has some of the best seafood and steaks in town, or you might opt for the locally-owned favorite,
Ichabod's Dockside Bar & Grille. Hemingway’s Tavern is one of our favorites for amazing food and ambiance, also known for their amazing brunch where you can sit on the outdoor patio and enjoy bottomless mimosas.
Favorite night spots—often featuring live entertainment—include
Meg O'Malley's Restaurant & Irish Pub, and
The Landing Rooftop at Hotel Melby, the city's newest nightcap headquarters with stunning views of Melbourne and all three causeways.
Things to Do
Melbourne has tons of annual events, from MelBOOM on Independence Day to the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival in March and the Melbourne Art Festival in April. There are also airshows, Renaissance fairs, and boat parades.
You'll find other popular events at
Wickham Park, or you can simply visit the playgrounds and explore the vast walking trails and green space. It's just one of many parks that will keep you coming back.
Gear up for a fishing charter, rent a boat, or book a water tour at Rigg's Outpost. In Melbourne, there's always something to do. And when you're worn out from all of the activities, you'll love hanging out in your new Melbourne home. There are dozens of events listed on the City of Melbourne’s Parks and Rec page, too!
