Local Lifestyle
The Cocoa Beach/Cape Canaveral area is as exciting or laid back as you want it to be. It's a casual community that magically blends small-town living with a city-like vibe. Many locals describe life at Cocoa Beach like a vacation that never ends; when you're a stone's throw from beaches no matter where you are, and with gorgeous weather year-round, you might as well roll with it.
Dining, Entertainment, & Shopping
There is a ton of local shopping here, but if you're a surfer, you'll be thrilled to know that this is the home and headquarters of the Ron Jon empire. Spend some time at the
Ron Jon Surf Shop for beachwear and accessories or a brand-new board.
Rusty's Seafood and Oyster Bar is a great spot to view Port Canaveral while dining on delicious, fresh-caught seafood. You might want to swap out the beach wear for something a bit nicer when you go to
Florida's Fresh Grill or the
Fat Snook, both often reviewed as relaxed, romantic, upscale places to grab a bite before taking an evening stroll on the beach.
Things to Do
When you're in the heart of the Space Coast, you must check out the
Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, where you can visit exhibits and learn about the area's exciting aerospace history. Don't forget to put some Cape Canaveral
space launches on your calendar.
Watch a launch from
Jetty Park, or just hang out there to barbecue, camp out, swim at the beach, or admire the cruise ships docked nearby.
Cocoa Beach Pier is the surfing hotspot for local surf competitions, and the pier itself is a great spot for checking out fun shops and food vendors.
Shepard Park is another launch-watching and surfing haven and home to the annual Ron Jon Beach n' Boards Fest in March.
Rockets aren't the only things keeping your eyes on the sky. Each April, the world-famous Cocoa Beach Air Show draws crowds from around the region. And at Thunder on Cocoa Beach, multi-million-dollar racing boats seem to catch as much air on the surf as they entertain throngs of onlookers from around the world.
